The ARC Tank: Teaching Children with Special Needs

ONEder’s partner, The Arc of Northern Virginia, is a finalist in The Arc Tank! Thanks to a donation from Steven P. Rosenthal, the Northeast Arc and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation are running the inaugural Arc Tank competition. Ideas that are deemed to be the most innovative and impactful for people with disabilities and their families will be awarded up to $200,000. We are proud to say that The Arc of Northern Virginia’s TravelMate curriculum, which is run on the ONEder platform, has been picked as a finalist in Arc Tank!

In 2014, The Arc of Northern Virginia partnered with ONEder to develop the award-winning TravelMate curriculum, which provides virtual support to individuals with cognitive challenges to be more independent in using the bus, train, and other forms of transportation.

The team at The Arc of Norther Virginia have put in a lot of hard work and thought to make this curriculum, and in doing so have enabled many individuals to gain independence and helped them lead fuller lives.

Congratulations to all those involved! Best of luck for the competition.
